Bills Release S L.J. McCray

The Buffalo Bills announced Tuesday that they’ve released safety L.J. McCray.

McCray, 25, wound up signing on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Catawba back in May of 2014. The 49ers elected to trade him to the Seahawks coming out of the preseason for a conditional 2018 seventh-round pick but he failed a physical and was later waived.

The Panthers signed him to a futures deal last year only to cut him loose at the start of the regular season. McCray eventually signed on to the Bills’ practice squad and finished out the year in Buffalo.

The Bills brought McCray back on a futures contract this past January.

In 2015, McCray recorded five tackles over the course of eight games.
