Bills Release WR Mike Williams From Injured Reserve

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Bills have released WR Mike Williams from injured reserve now that his calf injury is healed.

  • Williams is now free to sign with a team of his choosing.

Buffalo actually placed Williams on waivers a few weeks ago, but he wound up going unclaimed and was later placed on the team’s season-ending injured reserve list.

Williams, 27, came over in trade with the Buccaneers that included the Bills sending Tampa Bay a sixth-round pick in return for the veteran receiver.

Jason La Canfora mentions that the Bills will still owe Williams $5.2 million in 2015, fully guaranteed.

It became clear that Williams wasn’t a good fit with the Bills just a few weeks into the season and there were even reports that he could be moved at this year’s trade deadline. However, nothing came of the idea.

This season Williams has appeared in five games and caught eight passes for 142 yards receiving and a touchdown.
