Eagles Sign WR Brad Smith, Release WR B.J. Cunningham

Update:

Reuben Frank reports that Brad Smith has passed his physical with the Eagles and was seen walking to the team’s practice field.

  • Frank adds that the Eagles waived WR B.J. Cunningham to make room for Smith.

Smith, 30, was placed on injured reserve back in August with a rib injury, but is healthy enough now to pass a physical and convince the Bills to release him off of injured reserve.

The Eagles could use some additional help at receiver and the fact that Smith can also return kicks and run the wildcat also gives them some more options to work with.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to sign former Bills WR/KR Brad Smith.

Jason La Canfora reports that the Buffalo Bills are waiving WR Brad Smith with an injury settlement Friday.

  • La Canfora adds that Smith is now healthy and could be an “intriguing option” for a few NFL teams.

Smith has never been much of a receiver, but he can contribute on special teams and also run the wildcat for a team if needed. We’ll have to see if he lines up any visits for next week.
