Percy Harvin’s Visit With Bills Ends Without A Deal, Considering More Visits

Update:

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk confirms that free agent WR Percy Harvin‘s visit with the Bills has concluded without an agreement.

  • According to Florio, Harvin will take some time to plan his next move, which could include him taking two more visits to prospective teams.
  • Florio mentions that the Patriots could be one of the team’s Harvin is currently considering.
  • Interestingly enough, Florio surmises that Harvin is “thinking seriously about ending the process and joining the Bills.

Jason La Canfora first reported that Harvin’s visit with the Bills had concluded without an agreement and he was considering taking other visits with prospective teams in the coming days.

La Canfora adds “things could come to a head over the weekend.”

According to Josina Anderson, free agent WR Percy Harvin will be meeting with the Bills again on Thursday.

A source tells Anderson:

His visit has been great. I know that he’s very comfortable with us. I wouldn’t be a surprise if he takes another visit and does his due diligence. I think there’s a sentiment that there are some in Percy’s camp that want him to play with a more experienced quarterback, but I believe we have some really good pieces here.

Anderson’s source on what’s important to Harvin:

A lot of people have lied to him and told Percy [Harvin] that when he plays on their team he will be a traditional wide receiver, but if you look over the course of his career that certainly hasn’t always been the case. My understanding is that Percy wants to play the position full-time or get closer to that. He doesn’t want to be the gadget guy all the time. He’s grown tired of that. He wants to have a defined wide receiver role. I’m not saying he doesn’t want to ever catch the ball out of the backfield again or run a bubble screen. He”l do whatever it takes to help the team win. I just think he wants to be respected as a traditional wide receiver threat.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Bills bringing in free agent WR Percy Harvin for a visit is “actually an endorsement of Percy Harvin because [Rex] Ryan had him last year.”

“If he didn’t like the player he was or the kind of person he was he simply would not have brought him in, ” Rapoport said.

Interestingly enough, Rapoport also mentions that the Packers and Patriots have interest in Harvin as well.

Jason La Canfora reports that the Bills are trying to sign free agent WR Percy Harvin‘s to a one-year contract.

  • Josina Anderson reports that Harvin’s visit with the Bills will take place on Wednesday.
  • Ian Rapoport previously mentioned that the Patriots are the “team to watch” for Harvin.

La Canfora adds that Harvin ideally would like to play in a “high-octane” offense with an elite quarterback on a “prove-it” contract.

This would allow him to improve his value and chances of securing a much better contract after the 2015 season.

In the end, it could come down to playing for a contender, which could give the Patriots an edge, assuming things are relatively close in terms of offers. The Chargers and Packers have also come up as speculative landing sports for Harvin.

The Jets officially released on Tuesday after Brandon Marshall passed his physical with the team.

In 2014, Harvin has caught 51 passes for 483 yards receiving while contributing another 202 yards on 33 carries (6.1 YPC) and two total touchdowns over the course of 13 games.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 34 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.
