Bills Rumors: Fred Jackson, Kirk Morrison, Demetrius Bell

Fred Jackson

Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey mentioned that RB Fred Jackson has been medically cleared after breaking his leg back in November, per Terry McCormick.

Buffalo figures to employ a timeshare next year between Jackson and C.J. Spiller. Following Jackson’s injury, Spiller played very well for the Bills and showed signs of the player they thought they were getting when they drafted him in the top ten a few years ago.

Spiller said that would like to be a starter but Jackson is coming off of a great season of his own so it’s hard to see him getting that kind of playing time in Buffalo unless Jackson suffers another injury.

Kirk Morrison & Demetrius Bell

Gailey also said that they have already begun discussing contracts with LB Kirk Morrison and LT Demetrius Bell who will both be free agents in a matter of weeks, per Joe Buscaglia.

Bell is interesting mainly because of limited talent at offensive tackle in this year’s free agent market. Keeping Bell would be a great move for the Bills as long as they don’t overpay pay by too much. If he becomes available, he could net a solid contract as he’s seen as the 2nd best option behind Jared Gaither at tackle.

As for Morrison, defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt has already expressed interest in keeping him and the fact that they’re shifting their defense to a 4-3 could really help his chances of remaining with the team.
