Bills Rumors: Jeremy Mincey, Scott Chandler, Bryan Scott

Jeremy Mincey

WGR 550 Buffalo mentions that Jaguars DE Jeremy Mincey could be someone that the Buffalo Bills target during free agency to man the defensive end position for them next season.

Mincey has certainly been an overlooked in recent years and was actually rated by Pro Football Focus as the #12 best 4-3 defensive end last season.

To this point, Jacksonville hasn’t made any progress towards a long-term contract with Mincey so he figures to be fielding offers in the coming days.

We have Mincey listed as the #6 best free agent in out New Top 50 Free Agents List.

Scott Chandler

Bills TE coach Pete Metzelaars mentioned that newly signed TE Scott Chandler could develop into an ”every down player.”

I think he has a huge upside,” Metzelaars said, via BuffaloBills.com. ”A lot of people don’t give him credit for his blocking, but I think he does that very well and can still get better at it. I look forward to developing him [into] the every down player we would like for him to be.”

Last week, Buffalo signed Chandler to a two-year contract but he isn’t exactly the best weapon in the middle of the field. The Bills should him to create mismatches in the red zone last year so it will be interesting to see if his role expands in the teams’ offense now that they committed to him for the foreseeable future.

Bryan Scott

WGR 550 Buffalo mentions that the Bills do have interest in retaining SS Bryan Scott.

The report adds Scotts agent has confirmed that the two parties have had ”recent contract talks” and believes that something could be done before the start of free agency next week.

  1. Blah, blah, blah. The Bills haven’t been to the playoffs in like 12 years and are waaay under the cap. Makes perfect sense that they’re discussing/signing Mincey, Chandler, Scott, and Morrison instead of Mario Williams, Dallas Clark, Colston, V. Jackson, Finnegan, Carr, Hutchison, Nicks, etc.

    • Haha! I do like Mincey a lot and think he could be a great value, but your point is well taken. If they pass on Mario Williams when they have
a legitimate to sign him, it should be viewed as huge failure on their part. Same goes for Jackson but that could be harder given that he has 10-12 teams interested in him.
