Bills Were Shopping DT Adolphus Washington For 5th-Rd Pick During Training Camp

An NFL executive tells Mike Sando of ESPN that the Bills made DT Adolphus Washington available during training camp for a fifth-round draft pick.

While that may have the been the case a few months ago, an NFL source tells Sando that they may be reluctant do so now that they’ve gotten off to an impressive 3-1 start to the season.

“I just think with [Bills defensive tackle] Kyle Williams being so old, it could be hard to trade him,” the source told Sando. “Plus, they have a good thing going right now.

Even so, Sando points out that the Bills have already made a few notable trades involving WR Sammy Watkins and CB Ronald Darby, so it would be tough to completely rule out the possibility of Washington being available ahead of the upcoming trade deadline.

Washington arrested this summer in Cincinnati on weapons charges after he reached for and displayed a gun to police while officers were clearing out a local water park around 10 pm. Washington never informed officers before grabbing the gun.

Washington, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Bills back in 2016. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $3.189 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $540,000 and $630,000 over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Washington has appeared in three games and recorded four tackles and no sacks for the Bills. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 113 interior defender out of 120 qualifying players.
