Bills Sign CB Phillip Gaines

The Buffalo Bills announced that they’ve signed CB Phillip Gaines to a contract on Thursday.

Gaines met with the Colts a few weeks ago before recently taking a visit to Buffalo to meet with the Bills.

Chris Brown mentions that Gaines will compete for playing time at slot corner this summer.

Gaines, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,824,112 contract and made a base salary of $700,000 before becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2017, Gaines appeared in 14 games for the Chiefs and recorded 30 tackles, no interceptions and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 119 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
