Bills Sign First-Round OLB Shaq Lawson To A Four-Year Deal

The Buffalo Bills announced Monday that they’ve have agreed to terms with first-round OLB Shaq Lawson.

The Bills still need to sign fourth-round QB Cardale Jones before their entire 2016 draft class is under contract.

A few weeks ago, the Bills announced that Lawson will undergo shoulder surgery and subsequently miss 5-6 months following this procedure. This is clearly disappointing, especially considering that a number teams anticipated that Lawson would need surgery. However, it’s probably for the best to get it taken care of now and he ensure he’s 100 percent sooner than later.

Lawson, 21, was taken with the No. 19 overall pick by the Bills. Head coach Rex Ryan has been a big supporter of Clemson, but the Bills were cleared focused on improving their defense in this year’s draft, and Lawson should give them a quality pass-rusher to develop in the coming years.

According to OverTheCap.com, Lawson receives a four-year contract worth $10,221,644 to go along with a signing bonus of $5,633,924 . The contract will include a fifth-year option for the team to consider in 2019.

During his three-year college career at Clemson, Lawson recorded 123 tackles, 45.5 tackles for a loss, 20 sacks, a forced fumble and a pass defense.
