Bills Sign Former Colts RB Boom Herron, Waive CB Julian Whigham

The Buffalo Bills announced Thursday that they’ve signed former Colts RB Boom Herron to a contract and waived CB Julian Whigham.

This comes just a few days after Herron worked out for the Dolphins. Before that, Herron actually visited with the Bills along with Trent Richardson, but the team held off of signing him to a contract until now.

Herron, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2012. He spent just over a year in Cincinnati before the Colts signed him off of the Bengals’ practice squad. Indianapolis later signed him to an exclusive rights tender last year, but waived him from injured reserve with a settlement at the start of the season.

Unfortunately for Herron, the Colts declined to tender him a restricted offer before the start of free agency.

In 2014, Herron appeared in all 16 games for the Colts and ran for 351 yards on 78 carries (4.5 YPC) to go along with 21 receptions and 173 yards receiving and a touchdown.
