Bills Still Haven’t Made Decision Regarding Rex Ryan, Could Consider OC Anthony Lynn As Replacement

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Bills still haven’t made a decision regarding HC Rex Ryan’s fate, despite numerous reports in recent weeks that he’s likely out after this season.

Should the Bills actually fire Ryan, Rapoport says one of the main reasons could end up being their desire to keep OC Anthony Lynn.

Last year, the Buccaneers surprisingly fired HC Lovie Smith and replaced him with OC Dirk Koetter and Rapoport says that it’s possible the Bills could make a similar move.

According to Rapoport, Lynn is expected to get interviews as a head-coach candidate for other jobs and the Bills believe in him and may not want him jumping ship.

This fits with a previous report from Tim Graham, who reported that Ryan could be fired and replaced by OC Anthony Lynn.

At this point, it would be surprising to see Ryan return, considering all of the reports that the Bills are looking to move on. In fact, no one in the Buffalo front office has offered him any vote of confidence or support in recent weeks.

The Bills could still push for a winning season in the final weeks of the season, which would be an improvement over last year, but even that may not be enough to save Ryan’s job.

We’ll have more regarding the Bills as the news is available.
