Bills Waive DE Owa Odighizuwa

The Buffalo Bills announced Sunday that they’ve waived DE Owa Odighizuwa to make room for DE Ryan Russell, who has signed a one-year contract with the team.

Odighizuwa, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Giants back in 2015. He was in the third year of his four-year, $3.16 million rookie contract and set to make base salaries of $615,000 and $705,000 over the final two years of the agreement when he was waived during the preseason.

In a surprising move, Odighizuwa decided to not attend the Giants’ minicamp and posted a tweet in which he hinted at possibly retiring from the NFL. Although, he later clarified that he wasn’t walking away from football.

Odighizuwa was suspended for the first four games of the 2017 season for violating the league’s PED policy back in August and waived by the Giants soon after.

The Bills signed Odighizuwa to a one-year contract back in March.

In 2016, Odighizuwa appeared in 14 games for the Giants and recorded three tackles, no sacks and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 170 total snaps last season.
