Mike Rodak of ESPN.com writes that Bills WR Mike Williams hasn’t stood out during OTAs and could be in danger of not making the team’s final 53-man roster.
According to Rodak, “there isn’t a particular skill that he brings to the table that is different from the rest of the receiver group.”
Buffalo already has first-round pick Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods figure to be team’s top-two receivers, which means that unless Williams is able to turn some heads in training camp, he could be competing for a roster spot with Chris Hogan and and T.J. Graham for the final spot.
- Rodak expects the Bills to keep Marquise Goodwin and Marcus Easley on their final roster.
The Bills sent the Buccaneers a sixth-round draft pick for the rights to Williams.
Williams, 26, still has five years remaining on his six-year, $40.25 million contract that included $9.4 million guaranteed. He has a base salary of $1.2 million to go along with $1 million roster bonuses for the 2014 season.
Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports previously reported that the remaining guarantees included in Williams‘ contract won’t take effect until the 2015 season, which means the Bills could always get out from under his contract this year.
Last year, Williams was limited to playing in six games after he suffered a season-ending hamstring injury. He caught 22 passes for 216 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
