Blake Bortles & Johnny Manziel The Favorites To Go No. 1 Overall?

Dane Brugler of CBS Sports mentions that after speaking to people who he trusts at the Scouting Combine, he’s getting the “sense” that Blake Bortles and Johnny Manziel are the favorites to be draft No. 1 overall by the Houston Texans.

  • Mike Freeman of the Bleacher Report also reported on Wednesday that league sources “increasingly believe” that the Texans will end up taking Manziel the No. 1 overall, so it appears as though there could be something to this idea.

This, of course, is interesting considering that Teddy Bridgewater was widely considered to be the best quarterback in this year’s draft class not too long ago.

Manziel recently mentioned that the Texans passing on him would be the “worst decision they’ve ever made” and implied that he would be playing for the Jaguars.

It’s still early in the process, which means it’s hard to say with any certainty that anyone is the consensus top quarterback.

Blake Bortles has said that he intends to throw at this year’s Scouting Combine, which could give him a chance to impress NFL teams in need of a quarterback like the Texans.
