Latest Regarding Dead Body Found At Home Of Giants CB Janoris Jenkins

Update:

Court documents obtained by Rodrigo Torrejon of NorthJersey.com show that William Jenkins, the brother of Janoris Jenkins, allegedly killed Roosevelt Rene in an early morning fight on Monday in Jenkins’ basement.

According to the report, William Jenkins got into a fight with Rene and “Jenkins inflicted injuries to the victim which resulted in his death.”

William Jenkins later fled New Jersey and was arrested in Ontario County, New York, on a parole warrant unrelated to Rene’s death.

After interviewing Jenkins, authorities determined that Rene died because of the fight.

Rene was actually living in Janoris Jenkins’ house and agreed to work Jenkins on music ventures. William Jenkins was also living in the house.

TMZ Sports reports that law enforcement officials want to speak to the older brother of Giants CB Janoris Jenkins, who they consider to be a “person of interest” in the case of the dead body discovered at Jenkins’ New Jersey home on Tuesday.

William Jenkins is a person of interest in relation to dead body case at his brother’s house,” Ontario County NY District Attorney James Ritts tells TMZ.

TMZ also reports that Janoris’ brother, William Jenkins, was arrested in upstate New York on June 26 close to nine hours before the body was discovered. The arrest appears to be for an unrelated parole warrant issue, but investigators believe he might know something about the death of Roosevelt Rene.

As of now, William Jenkins is not a suspect in the case and police are just hoping to find out what he knows.

Police sources have informed Josina Anderson that there’s a “person of interest” that investigators are waiting to interview regarding the dead body found at Giants CB Janoris Jenkins’ home on Tuesday.

According to Anderson, multiple sources who have connected directly with Jenkins have told her that he’s “good” and “waiting for the legal process to play out.

Anderson adds that an officer from the New Jersey Fair Lawn Police Department kept patrol outside of Jenkins’ home last night while blocking off the perimeter of the area.

The cause of death was described to Anderson as being “highly suspicious.” However, a police source tells her that there was “not a clear-cut” explanation for Roosevelt Rene’s demise at this time.

TMZ Sports reports that a dead body was found at the New Jersey home of Giants CB Janoris Jenkins on Tuesday and the matter is being investigated by the Major Crimes Unit.

According to TMZ, Jenkins was out of the state when the body was discovered early Tuesday morning. Sources have told TMZ, however, that Jenkins is aware of the situation

The body was reportedly found in the basement by a worker at the house, but it has yet to be identified.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office tells TMZ Sports the dead body is a man, but he’s not the owner of the house.

“The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be provided when it is available and appropriate for release,” police said in a statement.

Dianna Russini confirms the news and adds that Jenkins isn’t in the state of New Jersey and has been in Florida since camp broke.

According to Russini, Jenkins had family staying at that home and he had plans to return to New Jersey on Tuesday to deal with the situation. However, it’s possible he could remain in Florida.

Russini adds that last night in New Jersey, a man claiming to be Jenkins’ brother was on a Jet Blue flight to Fort Lauderdale from Newark to allegedly meet up with Janoris. The man reportedly caused delays because he was too scared to fly, according to witnesses, and he eventually got off the plane.

Jenkins, 29 is a former second-round pick of the Rams back in 2012. He spent four years with the Rams before signing a five-year, $62.5 million contract that included $28.8 million guaranteed with the Giants.

Jenkins stands to make base salaries of $10.9 million and $10.15 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Jenkins appeared in nine games and recorded 31 tackles, three interceptions with two of them being returned for touchdowns, a forced fumble and nine pass defenses.

We’ll have more regarding this situation as the news is available.
