Brandon Jacobs Hoping To Stay In New York With The Jets

Now that the New York Giants have made the decision to move on with RB Brandon Jacobs, the attention swings to who may be interested in signing the veteran running back.

It appears that Jacobs would like to remain in New York City as he mentioned that he would “love” to play for the Jets.

I would love to do that,” Jacobs said, via the New York Post. “It would be an opportunity for me to not have to relocate … whichever team it is, I think is going to be a lucky team. I got a lot left in me, got a lot to offer.”

The Giants decision to release Jacobs reportedly had to do with the fact that he was unwilling to take a base salary lower than $2 million per season even though New York offered him $1.5 million with the extra $500,000 included in incentives.

As for the Jets, I can’t see them pursuing another short-yardage running back considering that they already have Shonn GreeneLaDainian Tomlinson will most likely not be back so I’d expect them to target someone in the draft that can compliment Greene better than Jacobs would.
