Tom Coughlin has commented on the rumors that Brandon Jacobs plans on asking for a trade out of New York by saying that Jacobs has not requested a trade from the team.

Update: Adam Schefter tweeted that Brandon Jacobs has not asked for a trade and the Giants are not willing to deal him.

Brandon Jacobs was benched during last nights game against the Indianapolis Colts because of an altercation with head coach Tom Coughlin. After getting talked to by Coughlin, Jacobs threw his helmet into the stands which caused a good amount of controversy. Jacobs wound up finishing the game with only 4 carries and 8 total yards.

Giants beat reporter Vinny DiTrani reports that Jacobs is set to meet with the Giants front office today and plans on asking for a trade out-of-town.

There is no doubt that the Giants have been disappointed with the production that they have gotten out Jacobs during the last year. The Giants are probably not opposed to exploring the trade market for Jacobs but the problem lies with the amount money that he is owed. Teams will most likely not be willing to take on his salary given that they cannot be sure that they will get production out of Jacobs which may cause the Giants to have to pay part of what Jacobs is owed in order to get a deal done.
