Patriots Sign WR Brandon Lloyd

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Patriots have reached an agreement with WR Brandon Lloyd. Jason LaCanfora mentions that Lloyd gets a three-year deal worth $12 million from the Pat’s.

No surprise here, as this has been reported to be coming for months now. Lloyd will certainly be a more effective weapon than either of Deion Branch or Chad Ochocinco were last year.

We have him listed as the #19 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reports that the Patriots are “close” to reaching a deal with WR Brandon Lloyd.

This has been a speculative option for months now since Josh McDaniels left for New England following the end of the regular season. The Patriots have been checking in on a number of veteran receiving options in recent weeks including Reggie Wayne. So far Lloyd has visited with the San Francisco 49ers but nothing appears to be imminent. It’s a pretty safe guess that Lloyd will end up playing for the Patriots next season.

  1. Does this mean Welker gone? My bet, unless league changes rules to allow more than one ball on field at a time.
