Brandon Weeden Has 7 Games To Prove He’s The Browns QB Of The Future

Browns new CEO Joe Banner mentioned that they plan on evaluating the team for the remainder of the season and that includes rookie QB Brandon Weeden.

“It’s right to put Brandon on the list of important things we have to figure out and we have seven games left to do that,” Banner said, via the  Cleveland Plain Dealer. “It’s an extremely important question for this organization to get right … You can’t win big without a great coach and a great quarterback.”

Weeden’s first year in the NFL hasn’t been all that great. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the worst qualifying quarterback in the league and he has led the Browns to a 2-7 this season. Now, there are other reasons for the team’s struggles, but there’s no question that Weeden could be playing at a higher level. The fact that he’s currently 30 years old isn’t going to help his chances of maintaining the team’s starting quarterback job, unless he’s able to really turn things around in the coming weeks.

The Browns will almost certainly have a very high draft pick next year, so there’s a chance that they could be considering some quarterback options.
