Brandon Weeden Could Return As Early As Next Week

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that after meeting with doctors it was determined that Browns QB Brandon Weeden has sprained right thumb that will not require surgery.

  • According to Schefter, Weeden could return as early as next week.

Cleveland has already named Brian Hoyer their Week 3 starter against the Vikings, which is a bit of surprise given that Jason Campbell has been listed as their backup quarterback for weeks.

HC Rob Chudzinski suggested that Weeden won’t be guaranteed the starting job once his injured thumb is healed.

“I’m going to leave all of the options open,” said Chudzinski, via ClevelandBrowns.com. “It’s a matter of where he’s at from a health standpoint — all of that plays into it — where we’re at and how guys are playing, as well.”
