Braylon Edwards Waived By The 49ers

After being inactivated for the Steelers game, despite being healthy, and following that up with a one catch for nine yards against the Seahawks, the San Francisco 49ers have made the decision to waive Braylon Edwards.

I was released today by the 49ers due to my injury that required more time to rehab and hasn’t allowed me to re-sync with the offense,” posted Edwards on his website. “I wish the 49ers organization the best of luck during the Playoffs. I will be working hard this off season to strengthen my knee and prepare for the 2012 season. Thanks for your continued support and for being such loyal fans.”

The lack of interest in Edwards during the short lived free agency period has been justified by Edwards performance this season. Granted, he has battled injuries and the biggest concern during free agency was his off-the-field issues but Edwards will have an even harder time finding a new job next season.

Edwards will have to pass through waivers before he can sign on with a team of his choosing.
