49ers Announce LB NaVorro Bowman Out For Season With Achilles Injury

The San Francisco 49ers announced Monday that veteran LBĀ NaVorro Bowman is out for the season with an Achilles injury.

All indications where that Bowman was likely done for the year with an Achilles tear, so this, unfortunately, doesn’t come as a complete surprise.

It’s a terrible loss for the 49ers’ defense, as he’s clearly one of their best players on that side of the ball. It’s worth mentioning that Bowman has worked his way back from a serious knee injury, so here’s hoping he can return from another major injury continue playing at a high level for the 49ers.

San Francisco will likely place him on injured reserve in the coming days.

Bowman,Ā 28, is a former third-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He’s currently in the first year of his new seven-year, $77 million contract that includes $20 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $5.85 million for the 2016 season.

Bowman’s 2016 season comes to an end with him appearing in four games and recorded 24 tackles, a forced fumble, an interception and two pass defenses.
