Bengals RB Giovani Bernard Out For Year With Torn ACL

Tom Pelissero of USA Today is reporting that Bengals running back Giovani Bernard tore his left ACL on Sunday.

This is terrible news of the Cincinnati, especially after WR A.J. Green suffered what’s considered to be a serious hamstring injury.

It’s likely the Bengals will place Bernard on injured reserve in the coming days and add someone to their roster.

Bernard, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Bengals back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $16.6 million contract when he signed a three-year, $15 million extension with the Bengals back in June.

Entering today’s game, Bernard had appeared in nine games for the Bengals and ran for 316 yards on 84 carries (43.8 YPC) to go along with 34 receptions for 296 yards receiving and three total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 27 running back out of 53 qualifying players.
