Bills Hire Brian Daboll As Offensive Coordinator

The Buffalo Bills announced Sunday that they’ve hired Alabama OC Brian Daboll as their offensive coordinator.

Here’s the statement released by Bills HC Sean McDermott regarding the hire:

We are excited to hire Brian as our offensive coordinator and welcome him back to Western New York. I know how much this area means to means to him. He is a good coach and a good teacher and has been part of winning programs in the NFL and in college.”

Mike McCoy and Rob Chudzinski both came up as potential targets for this position, but it appears the Bills moved quickly to hire Daboll instead.

Daboll, 42, began his NFL coaching career in 1997 with Williams & Mary. He spent a few years at Michigan State before being hired by the Patriots in 2000 as a defensive coaching assistant.

Daboll worked his way up to WRs coach before departing for a job with the Jets and eventually landing the offensive coordinator job in 2009.

After short stints with the Browns, Dolphins and Chiefs, Daboll returned to the Patriots for a year years before Alabama hired him as their offensive coordinator last year.
