Texans Signing Brock Osweiler To A Four-Year, $72M Contract

Rand Getlin of NFL Media reports that Brock Osweiler has reached an agreement with the Texans.

  • Adam Schefter reports that the Texans signing Osweiler to a four-year, $72M contract.
  • According to Tom Pelissero, the contract includes $37 million fully guaranteed in the first two years.
  • Pelissero adds that Osweiler gets $21 million in 2016, which breaks down to a $12M signing bonus, $5M roster bonus, and a $4M salary.
  • His $16M base salary in 2017 is also fully guaranteed.

This is probably the most shocking news of the day.

It was clear that the Texans were a serious threat to sign Osweiler away from the Broncos, but it seemed like he was more likely to return to Denver.

Osweiler, 25, played out the final year of his four-year, $3.516 million rookie contract and was in line to be an unrestricted free agent.

In 2015, Osweiler threw for 1,967 yards while completing 61.8 percent of his passes to go along with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions over the course of seven games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 20 quarterback out of 37 qualifying players.
