Broncos Fire HC Vance Joseph

The Denver Broncos have fired HC Vance Joseph, according to Adam Schefter.

The Broncos have already confirmed the news.

Here’s a statement from John Elway:

“I spoke with Vance this morning and thanked him for all of his hard work as our head coach. Although we decided to make this change, I believe Vance is a good football coach who has a bright future in this league.

“Vance made a lot of strides and deserves credit for how hard and competitively the team played this season. There’s always going to be a high standard here — The bottom line is we need to win more football games. We’re excited about the foundation that’s being built and look forward to putting in the work to get the Broncos back on the winning track.”

Reports have said for a few months now that Joseph was likely to be replaced after the season, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.”

Joseph, 46, began his NFL coaching career with the 49ers as their assistant defensive backs coach back in 2005. He spent six years in San Francisco before joining the Texans as their DBs coach in 2011.

After three years in Houston and two more with the Bengals, Joseph was hired by the Dolphins as their defensive coordinator. The Broncos would hire him as their head coach a year later.

During his two years as Broncos head coach, Joseph has led the team to a record of 11-21 (34.3 percent) and no playoff appearances.
