Browns Signing Veteran CB Jason McCourty To Two-Year, $6M Deal

Ian Rapoport reports that the Browns are expected to sign veteran CB Jason McCourty to a contract following his recent visit to Cleveland.

  • Courtney Fallon reports that McCourty receives a two-year contract worth $6 million with $2 million guaranteed.

McCourty, 29, is a former sixth-round pick of the Titans back in 2009. He has spent all eight years of his career with Tennessee and was in the final year of his six-year, $44.26 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed and would have made a base salary of $7 million for the 2017 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing McCourty will free up $7 million of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2016, McCourty appeared in 14 games for the Titans and recorded 69 tackle, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and 12 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 55 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
