  • According to Adam Schefter, the Browns are working on a new contract for Landry that’s expected to get done.

Landry just officially signed his franchise tender on Thursday, opening the door for the Dolphins trade him to another team.

The franchise tag will cost the Browns $16 million fully guaranteed for the 2018 season, but they will have ample time to work out a long-term extension in the coming months.

Landry, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2014. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $3.5 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $893,852 for the 2017 season.

In 2017, Landry appeared in 16  games and caught 112 passes for 987 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. He has also contributed 81 kick return yards. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 19 receiver out of 119 qualifying players.
