Adam Schefter reports that the Buccaneers are finalizing a deal on Tuesday to make Bruce Arians their next head coach.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Arians receives a four-year contract that includes a fifth-year, team option.

All indications from the past few days have been that Arians was going to be hired as the Bucs’ next head coach, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

Jeff Darlington reported that the Bucs had some concerns about Arians’ health and required him to take a physical, but he ultimately cleared that hurdle. Beyond that, Darlington says there was a hangup with the language in his contract with the Cardinals that caused a bit of a delay.

Tampa Bay also interviewed Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy, Vikings DC George Edwards and Cowboys passing game coordinator/DBs coach Kris Richard for the job. Jim Caldwell came up in recent days as a possibility, but the team hasn’t interviewed him.

Arians, 66, was hired by the Cardinals back in 2013 after he filled in for Colts HC Chuck Pagano while he was fighting cancer and managed to win Coach of the Year.

During his five years with the Cardinals, Arians led them to a record of 49-30-1 (61.9 percent), which includes two playoff appearances and a trip to the NFC Championship game in 2015.
