Buccaneers Signing CB Brent Grimes Two-Year, $16.5M Deal

Rand Getlin of NFL Media reports that the Buccaneers have agreed to terms with CB Brent Grimes on a two-year deal worth $16.5 million.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that the base value of Grimes’ contract is $13.5M over the course of two-years.
  • However, he can make $16.5M in playtime and Pro Bowl incentives.

Yesterday, a report said that three NFL GMs would not sign Grimes because of his wife’s antics. However, it appears as though the Buccaneers feel these concerns are being overblown.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Grimes to a contract won’t factor into a team’s 2017 compensatory picks.

Grimes, 32, was in the third year of his four-year, $32 million contract that included $16 million guaranteed when he released in a move that freed up $6.5 million in available cap space for the Dolphins just a few days ago.

In 2015, Grimes appeared in 15 games and recorded 48 tackles, four interceptions, and 14 pass defenses.
