Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Cardinals HC Bruce Arians is expected to retire from the NFL and leave the NFL on his own terms.

Recent reports said that retirement was where Arians was leaning, even though he denied he had made up his mind.

Arians has dealt with some health issues in recent years and with the team possibly heading toward a rebuild, it appears he and his family felt it was best for him to move on now.

Arizona has reportedly made preparations in case Arians retired, but they were still hoping to convince him to return for another season.

Arians, 65, was hired by the Cardinals back in 2013 after he filled in for Colts HC Chuck Pagano while he was fighting cancer and managed to win Coach of the Year. During his five years with the Cardinals, Arians has led them to a record of 49-30-1 (61.9 percent), which includes two playoff appearances and a trip to the NFC Championship game in 2015.
