Chargers Officially Sign LT Russell Okung To Four-Year, $53M Deal

Update:

The Los Angeles Chargers announced that they’ve officially signed OT Russell Okung to a four-year contract.

Russell has been a productive and efficient tackle in this league for a very long time,” Head Coach Anthony Lynn said.  “He is an athletic tackle who will bring leadership to our team. We see him being a cornerstone on our offensive line for years to come, and we’re thrilled to add him to the Chargers.”

Josina Anderson reports that the Chargers and LT Russell Okung have reached an agreement on a four-year contract worth $53 million that includes $25 guaranteed.

Okung was reportedly drawing interest from the Vikings as well, but it looks like the Chargers managed to close the deal.

Okung, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2010. After six years in Seattle, Okung signed a one-year, $5 million contract that included a team option with the Broncos in March of last year.

The Broncos had until March 9 to pick up Okung’s $1 million team option. Had they exercised his option, they would have added four years at $48 million with $21 million guaranteed to his contract.

In 2016, Okung appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 38 offensive tackle out of 78 qualifying players.
