Colts QB Andrew Luck Out 2-6 Weeks With Lacerated Kidney & Abdominal Injury

The Indianapolis Colts announced that QB Andrew Luck is out 2-6 with a kindey laceration and a partial tear of an abdominal muscle

“The injuries happened at the end of an early fourth quarter scramble when Andrew was doing everything he could to get us the win,” said Head Coach Chuck Pagano. “Andrew was sore after the game and was feeling a little worse Monday afternoon so we sent him to get tests.”

The injury occurred during the team’s Week 9 win over the Broncos. However, Luck is not expected to undergo surgery for these injuries.

It’s way too early to guess how long Andrew will be out,” said Pagano. “We’re going to keep listening to the doctors and evaluating his progress on a week by week basis. We’ve got all the confidence in the world in Matt Hasselbeck and we’re not going to put Andrew back out there until he’s healed and ready to go.

The Colts are currently on bye this week, but their upcoming schedule consists of games against Falcons (away), Buccaneers, Steelers (away), Jaguars (away), and Texans.

Luck, 26, is under contract for another two years and stands to make base salaries of $3,404,727 and $16.155 million during this time. Of course, everyone around the league expects him to ultimately become the highest paid player in NFL history at some point in the next year or so.

This season, Luck has completed 55.3 percent of his passes to go along with 1,881 yards, 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions over the course of seven games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 34 quarterback out of 36 qualifying players.
