Eagles Sign WR Torrey Smith To Three-Year, $15M Deal

Adam Schefter is reporting that the Eagles have signed WR Torrey Smith to a three-year contract worth $15 million.

There was talk that Smith could return to the Ravens, but it appears his best opportunity was with the Eagles.

It’s worth mentioning that signing him to a contract won’t impact a team’s compensatory picks, considering that he was released.

Last year, Smith was reportedly available for trade ahead of the deadline with the Eagles being a possible trade partner. However, the deadline came and went without a deal being completed.

Smith, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Ravens back in 2011. He was entering the third year of his five-year, $40 million contract that includes $22 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2017 season when the 49ers cut him a few days ago.

In 2016, Smith has appeared in 12 games for the 49ers and caught 20 passes for 267 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 117 receiver out of 118 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
