As reported, OL Josh Kline will not be involved in the trade.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that OL Josh Kline will no longer be included in the trade between the Patriots and Eagles for CB Eric Rowe.

Instead, Schefter says that Kline will remain property of the Patriots and could be waived.

Mike Reiss of ESPN is reporting that the Eagles are trading CB Eric Rowe to Patriots for OL Josh Kline and a draft pick.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that the draft pick included in the trade is a 2018 fourth-round pick that can become a third-round selection based on Rowe’s playing time in 2016 or 2017.
  • According to Rapoport, the Eagles actually found a lot of interest for Rowe this past weekend, which explains why they waited until now to get the deal done.

Last week, Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com, citing a person familiar with the situation, reported that the Eagles had Rowe on the trading block ahead of the deadline to cut rosters down to 53 players.

A personnel member from another organization told Shorr-Parks that the Eagles had actually been trying to trade Rowe for most of training camp.

Rowe could end up playing either cornerback or safety for the Patriots.

Rowe, 23, was taken in the second-round of last year’s NFL Draft. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $4.879 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Rowe appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and recorded 31 tackles, on interceptions and five pass defenses.

Kline, 26, signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State back in 2013. He was on and off of the team’s practice squad during his first year, but wound up appearing in 12 games for them last year.

Kline was in the final year of his three-year, $1.485 million rookie contract when New England signed him to a two-year, $3.3 million extension.

In 2015, Kline appeared in 14 games for the Patriots and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 37 guard out of 81 qualifying players.
