Falcons Release S William Moore & LB Justin Durant

The Atlanta Falcons announced that they’ve released veteran S William Moore and LB Justin Durant on Monday.

“We want to thank both of these guys for their commitment and work ethic,” Head Coach Dan Quinn said. “They battled through injuries to give everything they had for their teammates this season and I will always be appreciative of that.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing these two players will free up $5,542,707 in available cap space while creating $4,133,334 in dead money.

Moore, 30, was entering the fourth year of his  five-year, $29.512 million contract that includes $14 million guaranteed. He was in line to make a base salary of $4.5 million for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Moore appeared in 11 games and recording 51 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and four pass defenses for the Falcons. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 54 safety out of 88 qualifying players.

Durant, 30, signed a three-year, $10.8 million contract that included $3 million guaranteed with the Falcons last year and was set to make a base salary of $1.75 million for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Durant appeared in 13 games for the Falcons and recorded 82 tackles, no sacks, and three pass defenses.
