Giants Hiring Ben McAdoo As Next HC

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the are hiring Ben McAdoo as their next head coach.

  • Rapoport adds that the Eagles had “strong interest” in McAdoo, which likely pushed the Giants to get a deal done.
  • Mike Garafolo reports that the Giants’ plan for now is to bring back Steve Spagnuolo as their defensive coordinator.
  • According to Mike Garafolo, former Dolphins HC Joe Philbin could be in line for a role with the Giants as well.
  • Rapoport confirms that Philbin could be a candidate for the Giants’ offensive coordinator position.

Reports surfaced that the two parties were working on agreement. However, it appears as though they’re set on keeping McAdoo and his offensive in place.

Giants QB Eli Manning has said that he would like to see McAdoo return next year, and it couldn’t hurt to continue building upon offensive production.

Earlier in the day, there was talk that Mike Smith or Doug Marrone could get the job, but it looks like the Giants wanted to see what McAdoo could do with the opportunity.

When New York first hired McAdoo, the team said that they viewed him a future head coach and a possible replacement to Tom Coughlin.

We’ll have more updates as the news is available.
