Giants Trading CB Eli Apple To Saints

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Giants are trading former first-round CB Eli Apple to the Saints on Tuesday.

  • According to Schefter, the Saints are trading a 2019 fourth-round pick and a 2020 seventh-round pick to the Giants for Apple.

Recent reports mentioned that the Saints were in the trade market for cornerback help and they came up as a potential suitor for Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson.

However, this is a pretty good sign that Peterson won’t be coming to New Orleans.

Apple, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Giants back in 2016. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $15.152 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $1.82 million and $2.51 million over the final two years of the agreement.

The contract also includes a fifth-year option for the Saints to pick up in 2019.

In 2018, Apple has appeared in five games for the Giants and recorded 23 tackles, no interceptions, a forced fumble, a recovery and five pass defenses.
