Giants & WR Brandon Marshall Agree To Two-Year, $12M Deal

Kimberley A. Martin of Newsday is reporting that the Giants and veteran WR Brandon Marshall have reached agreement on a two-year deal worth $12 million.

It looks like Marshall will remain in New York, despite being released by the Jets a few weeks ago.

The Giants were among the teams immediately tossed out as a potential landing spot for Marshall so this shouldn’t come as a huge surprise.

It’s worth mentioning that signing him to a contract won’t impact a team’s compensatory picks, considering that he was released.

Marshall, 32, is a former fourth-round pick by the Broncos in the 2009 NFL Draft. After four years in Denver, he was traded to the Dolphins in 2010.

Marshall’s time in Miami was limited to just two season before he was once again traded, this time to the Bears in return for two third-round picks. In total, Marshall spent three seasons with the Bears, but was traded for a third time to the Jets in March of 2015.

Marshall was in the final year of his contract and set to make a $7.5 million base salary for the 2017 season when the Jets released him in a move that freed up $7.5 million of available cap space.

In 2016, Marshall appeared in 15 games for the Jets and recorded 59 receptions for 788 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus rated Marshall as the No. 67 wide receiver out of 115 qualifying players.
