Jaguars Hiring Tom Coughlin As Executive VP Of Football Operations, Extend GM Dave Caldwell

Adam Schefter is reporting that the Jaguars areĀ also hiring Tom Coughlin as Executive VP of Football Operations.

  • The Jaguars also announced that they’ve signed GM Dave Caldwell to a two-year extension.
  • This comes shortly after the news that the Jaguars have hired Doug Marrone as their next head coach.

Jacksonville brought in Coughlin for an interview but never said what he specifically interviewed for. Previous reports mentioned the possibility of him taking on a front office role and it appears as though the Jaguars were interested in extending him this position.

Coughlin, 70, spent 12 yearsĀ Giants’ head coach and has led them to a record of 102-90 (53.1 percent) to go along with five playoff appearances and two Super Bowl titles.

After interviewingĀ for a few head-coaching jobs with the 49ers and Eagles, Coughlin agreed to join NFL’s football operations department.

Caldwell, 43, began his NFL front office career with the Falcons back in 2012. He spent just a year in Atlanta before he was hired by the Jaguars as their general manager.

During his tenure, the Jaguars have produced a record of 14-47 (23 percent) and no playoff appearances. The Jaguars’ most wins under Bradley was five from last year.
