Jets Claim TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins Off Waivers From Buccaneers

Adam Schefter reports that the Jets have claimed TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins off of waivers from the Buccaneers.

There was some question whether anyone would claim Seferian-Jenkins off waivers, considering his recent arrest and how things went in Tampa Bay. However, it looks like the Jets felt his talent was too much to pass on, especially when they could use some tight end production.

Tampa Bay cut Seferian-Jenkins loose on Friday after he was arrested for driving under the influence.

We are very disappointed in today’s news,” Bucs GM Jason Licht said of the move. “After careful consideration, we felt this was the right decision at this time.

Seferian-Jenkins, 23, is a former second-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2014. He was in the third year of his four-year, $5.254 million contract and set to make a base salary of $822,721 for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Seferian-Jenkins has appeared in two games and caught three passes for 44 yards receiving and a touchdown.
