Jets Extend Contracts Of GM Mike Maccagnan & HC Todd Bowles

The New York Jets announced Friday that they’ve extended the contracts of GM Mike Maccagnan and HC Todd Bowles.

  • Manish Mehta reports that both Bowles and Maccagnan receive two-year extensions from the Jets.

We are very happy to have extended both Mike and Todd.  During their time here, they have worked together to help the organization build a foundation on which to grow,” said Jets CEO Christopher Johnson. “They are identifying, developing, and getting productivity out of our players.  I believe we are headed in the right direction.  This provides us continuity and stability as we continue to move this team towards sustained success.   We still have a lot of work to do and I am excited to work closely with both of them as we move forward.”

There had been speculation about Bowles’ future with the Jets and the possibility that could be an option to take over for Bruce Arians if he walks away from the Cardinals.

However, indications from the Jets have been that they planned to retain both Maccagnan and Bowles and continue working on the rebuild they started a few years ago.

Since taking over as the Jets’ head coach in 2015, Bowles and Maccagnan have led the team to a record of 20-27 (42.6 percent) and no playoff appearances.
