Jets Sign CB Trumaine Johnson To Five-Year, $72.5M Deal

Adam Schefter reports that free agent CB Trumaine Johnson intends to sign with the New York Jets.

  • Rich Cimini reports that the Jets have signed CB Trumaine Johnson to a five-year, $72.5 million contract with $34 million fully guaranteed.

Johnson was, arguably, the top cornerback in this year’s market, so this is a big addition for the Jets, who could really use a cornerback like Johnson.

Johnson, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Rams back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with the Rams before being franchised in back-to-back seasons.

In 2017, Johnson appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and recorded 65 tackles, two interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown, a forced fumble, a recovery and 14 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 68 overall cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
