Lions Signed HC Jim Caldwell To Multi-Year Extension

Adam Schefter is reporting that Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell has signed a multi-year contract extension with the team.

Interestingly enough, Schefter says that Caldwell actually agreed to this extension months ago, but it wasn’s disclosed until today.

There had been a lot of questions in recent months about Caldwell’s long-term status with the team, but this will obviously put those to rest moving forward.

Caldwell, 62, began his head coaching career with the Colts back in 2009 after taking over for Tony Dungy. He spent three years in charge of Indianapolis before he was fired after the 2011 season.

After a stint with the Ravens as their offensive coordinator, the Lions hired him as their head coach in 2015.

Overall, Caldwell has led the Lions to a record of 29-21 (58 percent), which includes two playoff appearances.
