Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray Declares For 2019 NFL Draft

Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray announced that he’s officially declared for the 2019 NFL Draft on Monday.

It’s worth mentioning that Murray could still pursue a baseball career, as declaring for the draft won’t violate the terms of his contract with the Oakland Athletics.

Murray and reps met with members of the A’s and MLB on Sunday in an attempt to convince him to play baseball. In fact, MLB will allow the A’s to carry Murray on their 40-man roster and he develops in the minor leagues.

However, reports have said that Murray appears to be leaning towards playing football after putting together an impressive year at Oklahoma that resulted in him winning the Heisman trophy.

If Murray ends up being a first-round pick, he will have made as much guaranteed money as he got from the Athletics last year. Should Murray elect to play football, he would have to pay back his bonus and the A’s would not receive a compensation pick in 2019.

During this three-year college career at Texans A&M and Oklahoma, Murray completed 68.7 percent of his passes for 5,098 yards, 48 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. He also rushed for 1,369 and 12 touchdowns over the course of 28 games.
