Packers Sign TE Jimmy Graham To Three-Year, $30M Deal

Adam Schefter reports that the Packers intend to sign TE Jimmy Graham to a three-year deal.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Graham’s contract with the Packers will pay him $30 million over three years, which includes $22 million being paid out over the first two years of the agreement.
  • According to Tom Pelissero, Graham’s contract includes a three-year, $30 million contract that includes an $11 million signing bonus. a $5 million roster bonus due next March, $300,000 per year in per-game roster bonuses and $250,000 for making the Pro Bowl.
  • Ben Volin adds that Graham gets just one year fully guaranteed will make $13 million after year one, $22 million after year two and $30 million after year three.
  • Graham’s base salaries will be $2 million (2018), $3.45 million (2019) and $7.45 million (2020).

The Saints were reportedly serious about a reunion with Graham, but contract talks reportedly stalled today and it appears the Packers stepped up to close a deal.

This is a huge move for the Packers, who are clearly shifting direction with their approach to free agency under their new GM.

Graham, 31, is a former third-round pick of the Saints back in 2010. He spent five years in New Orleans before he was traded to the Seahawks in return for C Max Unger and a first-round pick.

Graham played out the final year of his four-year, $40 million contract that included $20.9 million guaranteed and was in position to be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.

In 2017, Graham appeared in all 16 games for the Seahawks and caught 57 passes for 520 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 35 tight end out of 72 qualifying players.
