Panthers Signing DT Dontari Poe To Three-Year, $27M Deal

According to Kimberly A. Martin, the Panthers are signing DT Dontari Poe to a three-year, $27 million contract on Thursday. Martin adds that Poe had interest from the Redskins.

Poe, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2012. He played out his four-year, $11,320,006 contract but the Chiefs picked up his fifth-year option that will cost them $6.15 million for the 2016 season.

Poe elected to sign a one-year, prove it contract with the Falcons last year and was testing the open market for the second straight season.

In 2017, Poe appeared in all 16 games for the Falcons and recorded 39 tackles, 2.5 sacks and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 35 interior defender out of 122 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
