Patriots First-Round OL Isaiah Wynn Out For Season With Torn Achilles

Adam Schefter reports that Patriots first-round OT Isaiah Wynn tore his Achilles against the Eagles and will be out for the season.

Wynn was carted off during Thursday’s preseason game with what was considered to be an ankle injury.

However, based on video of the play, former NFL physician David Chao said the concern for Wynn is that he may have a left Achilles tendon rupture. Unfortunately, this turned out to be the case.

You can expect the Patriots to place Wynn on injured reserve and add someone to their roster in the coming days.

Wynn, 22, was taken with the No. 23 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft by the Patriots. According to OverTheCap.com, he receives a four-year, $11,577,192 contract that includes a $6,499,776 signing bonus.

The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Patriots to pick up in 2021.

During his three-year college career at Georgia, Wynn was named to the preseason Second-Team All-SEC in 2017 and the Coaches’ Preseason Second-Team All-SEC last year.
