Raiders Cut Veteran CB David Amerson

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Raiders have cut veteran CB David Amerson on Monday.

According to Yates, Amerson’s $5.5 million base salary would have been guaranteed in 2018 if he was on the Raiders’ roster as of Wednesday.

Amerson, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Redskins back in 2013. Washington waived him during the 2015 season and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Redskins.

Amerson signed four-year, $38 million extension with close to $18 million guaranteed with the Raiders back in 2016. He was set to make base salaries of $5.5 million and $7 million over the next two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Amerson will free up $6 million of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2017, Amerson appeared in six games for the Raiders and recorded 18 tackles, no interceptions, a fumble recovery and four pass defenses.
