Raiders Officially Announce Hiring Of Jon Gruden

The Oakland Raiders officially announced that they’ve hired Jon Gruden as their head coach.

The Raiders plan to hold a press conference at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 9 to officially introduce Gruden as their new head coach.

Reports have made it clear for weeks now that Gruden was going to replace Jack Del Rio in Oakland and he has already got his coaching staff put together for the most part, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

Adam Schefter reported that Gruden will receive a 10-year contract that is likely to be worth $100 million to become the Raiders’ next head coach. According to Schefter, this deal is tied for the longest coaching deal in NFL history.

Gruden, 54, began his head coaching career with the Raiders back in 1998. He was actually traded to the Buccaneers in 2002 after years in Oakland.

During Gruden’s 11-year coaching career, he posted a record of 95 and 81 (.540) to go along with four division titles and a Super Bowl Championship with the Buccaneers.
